Luster #1, 2015
Medium: Digital Print on Paper
Size: 100 x 75 cm
Location: Eastern Europe
Usually a luster is associated with bourgeois society. It stands for glance, glory and exclusiveness. Besides, a luster can be conceived simply as an element hanging from above with lights aligned to the ceiling. The photographs “Luster #1” and “Luster #2” show two different streetlights in a roadhouse in eastern Europe. Separated from their environment and turned upside down, the lamps are presented as autonomic objects. Pretending to be a luster, they tend to represent a civil society, instead of a closed one.
