Louisa Marie Summer, born 1983, studied Photo-Design in Munich and achieved her Master of Fine Arts in Photography from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), Providence, RI. Summer’s work combines documentary and fine art photography; to her, photography means approaching the lives of other people with curiosity, respect and empathy. Her complex and intimate images tell stories about people in different social structures and everyday life – its disappointments, but also its moments of happiness. Her images are full of emotional power and leave room for interpretation and artistic debate. Summer’s work has been published in various media and exhibited internationally. She has won distinguished awards and had her second book „Jennifer’s Family“ published by Schilt Publishing, Amsterdam, NL. She splits her time between New York and Munich.
